This is an update on the changing climate in Honduras. Because of the mass deportation by U. S. the State Department (400,0000 in 2011 alone) there have been a lot of Hondurans who have been deported in the past few years. While most of these people return to Honduras and build homes, start business’ and contribute to society there are a few that have not. They have returned with large amounts of money and have turned to illegal activities. Some them have settled in the La Varas area and we have heard of some local incidents that we are not sure how, or if it effects Cristo Salva’s ministry efforts. This information, together with the fact that Markus Kamberger is getting ready to retire and would like to sell the farm property has led us to find new location that we feel is more secure for the teams while all of the information is sorted out. We have leased the Conference Center at the Bible Institute in Sula for the 2012 trips. This is a secure, gated area that can accommodate up to100 people (although our groups will not be that large!). This is located on the same campus that Pat and Gary Havener and Jen O’Brien live at. Markus and Maria have graciously offered to reimburse Cristo Salva for the improvements that we have made to the farm over the years. They have also donated the land in Macuelizo for the new location. We are very grateful for their continued support and involvement in the ministry of Cristo Salva. The team fees will be increasing by $25.00 per week due to the change in location. For those of you who have already booked a trip please let us know if this creates a hardship. Our top priority has been and will continue to be the safety of the team members. We are continually monitoring safety concerns and will continue to make adjustments in our schedules and activities to ensure that the team is safe. The change in venue for housing is a proactive response to these concerns. We look forward to serving the beautiful people of Honduras in continuance of our Ministry of Encouragement through the mission of Cristo Salva since 1991. ⇔⇔⇔⇔⇔⇔⇔⇔⇔⇔⇔⇔⇔⇔⇔⇔⇔⇔⇔⇔⇔⇔
