2012 Student Scholarship Program

The Student Scholarhip Program was started in 2011. We anticipated around 25 students would be sponsored the first year. We ended up with 120 students because of the generousity of so many! We are very grateful for your support. This year we will make sure that all the students who were in the program in 2011 will be sponsored in 2012. We have a quite a long waiting list at this point for 2012. We will be posting students as they become available on the facebook page as it is an easier venue to get the updates out quickly. There has been a tremendous need for school uniforms, school kits and now for scholarships for children who wish to attend school (it's optional in Honduras). We are excited to continue a Student Scholarship program that began in for 2011 where you can sponsor a student in order for them to attend school.

The school year runs from February-November

Cristo Salva has been providing school kits and uniforms through the generousity of your donations throughout the years. Students cannot attend school unless they have a uniform and supplies. Photos below are of the group giving out school supplies and backpacks to the Green Wells school at the beginning of the year.

We have noticed a dramatic increase in the number of students who need assistance. The fees are as follows:

Elementary school uniform & supplies $20 or $30 (includes shoes and book bag) & Fees for Elementary School $10/yr

Jr. High uniform $70.00 includes tennis shoes, gym uniform and book bag & Fees $30 or $60 including the bus if needed (Las Varas students need to take the bus)

So for $40 you can send an elementary school student to school for a year and for $80-130 you can send a junior/senior high student to school for a year (cost depends on where they live) This is a tangable way to make a substancial difference in the live of a child.

Each sponsor will be send a photo, bio and letter from the student. The student will send a 2nd letter in November with an update of how their school year went. You can also send a photo and letter to your student so you will be able to encourage them to do well in school.
